Wicked:
This play follows the story pre-Dorothy entering Oz, there is another girl in town who is born with gemstone green skin, and who is spirited, passionate, talented and smart, but who is completely misread by others. She meets the popular and gorgeous blond girl in town and a friendship no one expects evolves between the two until the labels wicked and good are put upon them respectively. Guess which one gets unfairly described as wicked?

Frozen:
Frozen is the story of two sisters distanced from one another by a puzzling secret. One sister is trying to reign in and control her powers, and the other sister goes off on an escapade in an effort to bring her family together and heal past hurts. It’s all about true love. Throw in one zany and adorable snowman and you have a story that will capture your heart, and make you laugh at the same time.
These are just a few of the Broadway plays that are out there. You don’t have to travel to NYC to see a play or Broadway show. There are wonderful theaters right here in Connecticut, such as The Bushnell and The Hartford Stage, both in the city of Hartford; The Palace Theater in Waterbury; The Shubert Theater in New Haven, and The Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, just to name a few. Google their websites and a list of their show offerings with dates, times, and ticket costs will appear. So, consider seeing a show, and enjoy the experience because the memories will truly last a lifetime.

Bullying… is not okay!
By Connor P. Nelson
A bully is someone who uses superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force someone to do what one wants. It sad to say it but we all know someone who has gotten bullied or have themselves been bullied.
There are many reasons why some people choose to become a bully. Many believe bullies bully because they aren't happy with themselves in the inside. For example, they might say things like, ¨your ugly¨ because they feel that way about themselves. Some bullies bully others because they want the fame. Some bullies bully others because they are getting being bullied by someone else.
There are many ways to stop bullying. Some methods include ignoring the bully and then telling a trusted adult, like parent or teacher about what is happening with the bully. Other resources include your school counselor, teachers and administrators. If the situation does not resolve, the police can also be a helpful resource as well.
On a personal note fifth grade was the worst year of my life. I was bullied and picked on to the point where I began to experience severe anger. However, this year at WMS I’m determined to let the words like ¨your ugly”go in one ear and out the other. Is your year going better? If so say how or why…
Bullying needs to stop! Bullying can lead to depression and much more. If you want to report bullying you can reach out to our school counselors and administration through our school’s website, and choose the link that says “WMS Cares”. This link will send your report to a school counselor or social work who monitors this website.
